MARQUETTE, MI (May 21, 2025) –  InvestUP is pleased to announce that Anne Giroux has joined the organization as the Director of Development and Investment Services for its subsidiary non-profit, Build U.P.  In this position, Giroux will fill a critical void across the Upper Peninsula by supporting developers, lenders, and communities in accessing available housing incentives and partnerships to help facilitate strategic development projects. Giroux will leverage the subject matter expertise she has cultivated through years of working on development projects and work collaboratively with developers, lenders, municipalities, and community partners to help bring projects to life. From housing initiatives to strategic Brownfield redevelopment, Giroux’s role will build on InvestUP’s commitment to advancing prosperity across the region.

According to InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante, “Build U.P. has already helped advance 200 new homes across six counties, launched a first-of-its-kind Intermediate School District partnership, and opened doors for development projects that have long been stalled. Anne’s unique, one-of-a-kind expertise in public finance, Brownfield redevelopment, and land banking will help us build on that momentum and continue breaking down barriers as we stay focused on supporting housing development, business expansion, and community revitalization efforts across the Upper Peninsula. We’re thrilled to have her on board.”

Giroux brings more than 25 years of experience in local government finance to her new position. Prior to joining InvestUP, she served as Deputy County Administrator/Finance Manager for Marquette County and, before that, as Marquette County Treasurer. During her tenure, she established and managed the Marquette County Brownfield Authority and the Marquette County Land Bank Authority for 16 years, helping to spark transformative development projects across the region. She is also a past President of the Michigan Association of County Treasurers and the Michigan Association of Land Banks.

“I am grateful to InvestUP for affording me the opportunity to pursue my passion, join a great team, and build upon the impact they have made in a short time”, said Giroux, “I am excited to work with developers, communities, and financial institutions throughout the U.P. My expectation is that with my background in local government, Brownfield redevelopment, and land banking, I can be an immediate resource to those looking to put together challenging development projects. The services I will be providing will be a great complement to the financing tools available through Build U.P.”

Fittante added, “Anne’s experience, trust, and long-standing commitment to community and economic development will be an invaluable asset across the Upper Peninsula.”
