Seven economic organizations move into Kaufman Block

Inside the newly renovated Kaufman Block building on Marquette’s Washington Street, InvestUP is among seven economic development organizations who are moving in to improve collaboration and innovation—Accelerate UP, Invent@NMU, LSCP, Northern Initiatives, Innovate Marquette SmartZone, and Northwest Michigan PTAC. In addition to the offices being on-site, incubation and accelerator space for startups will be housed in the building as well as classroom space for NMU’s College of Business.

“I think there are some big opportunities for the Upper Peninsula, but there’s some challenges that go with those opportunities,” said InvestUP CEO Marty Fittante. “There are seven organizations here that have strengths and complement each other and by working together in this space, there’s an opportunity to tackle those challenges.” Read more here.

As a part of our commitment to the Upper Peninsula, we collaborate with partners to share some of the most compelling stories about business and job growth across the region. Our goal through these stories is to get at the heart of what makes the U.P. unique — and to ensure these stories travel beyond our peninsula and broadly illustrate why the UP is the place to live and work.
