Calumet awarded $250K grant for restoration of Fifth Street

Following last May’s devastating Fifth Street Fire, the Village of Calumet is preparing to rebuild with a $250,000 grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

The Michigan Enhancement Grant will be used to reduce costs and provide the information needed by a potential developer, who will ultimately have the final say in what the new structures will look like. Additionally, site work will be completed to address issues that were not part of the scope of the initial environmental cleanup, as well as environmental assessments, title work, and a site survey.
