U.P. small businesses receive $100K in grants to strengthen economy

Four U.P. small businesses are among 28 in the state that will receive funding from the MEDC’s Match on Main program to support job growth and economic development, including Good Times Music (Houghton), Ore Dock Brewing Company (Marquette), Co-Ed Flowers and Gifts (Sault Ste. Marie), and Superior Culture (Marquette). Each business received $25,000 for a total of $100,000 awarded to the Upper Peninsula.

“These Match on Main grants will help local businesses find new paths to grow and create and retain jobs, while further developing vibrant, unique, and attractive places where people want to live, work, and play,” said MEDC Senior Vice President of Community Development Michele Wildman. As a part of our commitment to the Upper Peninsula, we collaborate with partners to share some of the most compelling stories about business and job growth across the region. Our goal through these stories is to get at the heart of what makes the U.P. unique — and to ensure these stories travel beyond our peninsula and broadly illustrate why the UP is the place to live and work.
