The Chipp at 710 Chippewa Square in Marquette<\/h3>

The Chipp is a 14-unit workforce housing redevelopment in Marquette. The project converts an underused office building into income-restricted apartments for households at or below 120% of the area median income, adding attainable options near jobs and services. An MSHDA MI Neighborhoods grant was awarded to this project, obtained in partnership with the Marquette County Land Bank. A brownfield plan was also approved by the Marquette City Commission. A tax increment financing will reimburse eligible environmental and housing development costs, helping close the financing gap and move the project forward with developer SLA Property, LLC. \n\n

The project was financed by MEDC and includes three phases; Phase 1 includes three buildings featuring 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom apartments, each approximately 950 square feet, with monthly rents estimated at $2,150. The first 16-unit building is expected to be available by late April or early May, followed by a second building in midsummer and a third building in the Fall of 2025. \n\n

Sky Sushi, the borrower\u2019s restaurant, will relocate as the anchor tenant to the development, which is being financed by Upper Peninsula State Bank and MEDC.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
