SwimSmart Warning Systems awarded $20K to keep swimmers safe

MTEC SmartZone, an InvestUP Board Member, recently announced that SwimSmart Warning Systems—an internet-connected beach warning system—has been approved for a Business Accelerator Fund award of $20,000. The system, which connects to the National Weather Service’s database to match the beacons to the area swim risk forecast, has several new installations contracted this year in Michigan including Manistee, Ludington, and Moran Township, as well as Racine County, WI.

“We have some very big developments in the works for SwimSmart. Receiving the BAF grant allows us to keep the momentum going at such a critical time in our business,” said Jacob Soter, SwimSmart Manager. “This wouldn’t have been possible without the help of Jon Leinonen and the MTEC SmartZone team.” SwimSmart Warning Systems began its entrepreneurial journey under the guidance of the MTEC SmartZone team in Houghton.
