4 U.P. sled dog races bring communities together for bonfires and hot cocoa

This month and early next, several beloved sled dog races return to the Upper Peninsula, bringing spectators from all over the Midwest and beyond to revel in the high-energy atmosphere and cheer on the mushers – and, of course, the hard-working pups. Upcoming races include the UP200 (Feb. 17-21), the Midnight Run (Feb. 17-21), the Jack Pine 30 (Feb. 19), and the CopperDog 150 (March 4-6).

The events are volunteer-driven and infused with a sense of community. Many businesses join in on the fun, hosting bonfires and offering hot cocoa and other treats to attendees. Read more here.
