UPPCO committed to safety and powering the Upper Peninsula

Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) is the region’s leading electrical power utility provider headquartered in Marquette, Michigan with centers across the U.P. Formed in 1884, UPPCO has been dedicated to “powering” the people of the Upper Peninsula for more than 135 years.

Recently, UPPCO partnered with Northern Initiatives to create the UPPCO Energy Waste Reduction Program, which allows small businesses to receive a free energy assessment and 0% financing for any improvements they’d like to make. Financing is available for energy-saving improvement projects that meet the following criteria:
• Projects up to $5,000, for terms up to 60 months.
• Small to medium UPPCO commercial customers.
• Prescriptive and custom electric projects for all types of businesses and municipalities.

Jim Larsen, CEO of UPPCO, is on the InvestUP Board of Directors.

As a part of our commitment to the Upper Peninsula, we collaborate with partners to share some of the most compelling stories about business and job growth across the region. Our goal through these stories is to get at the heart of what makes the U.P. unique — and to ensure these stories travel beyond our peninsula and broadly illustrate why the UP is the place to live and work.
