3 U.P. companies awarded more than $190K to expand capabilities

The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development awarded 3 U.P. companies with Value Added and Regional Food System Grants. The grants are designed to help retain, expand, attract, or develop agricultural processing through targeted investments in things like technology and equipment, feasibility studies, and regional food systems.

Degreif’s Processing, Sault Ste. Marie – $95,765 to expand livestock processing in the Eastern U.P.
Trenary Toast Bakery, Trenary – $45,900 to expand the bakery’s oven capacity to increase capacity
• Upper Peninsula Masonic Association, Marquette – $49,800 to expand the Masonic Arts, Theatre & Innovation Company Community Kitchen’s equipment and programming for increased value-added food production to local food entrepreneurs
