COPPER COUNTRY, Mich. — UP native and Calumet High School senior Zander Worm wins the 2021 TechForce Foundation Futuretechs Rock Grand Prize. Zander is a two-time regional SkillsUSA winner, and now the gold medalist of the Michigan SkillsUSA competition. He plans to attend Michigan Technological University and is determined to become the Chief Engineer of Corvette.

“This program has done a lot for me,” he told the Daily Mining Gazette. “It has taught me a lot of things and helped me learn a lot of skills. [The SkillsUSA win] is an opportunity to give back by bringing recognition to the program which means a lot to me also.”

CCISD CTE Automotive Technology Instructor David Narhi presented Zander with his Gold Medal after winning the Overall Automobile competition.

Zander will represent Michigan in the National SkillsUSA competition hosted out of Nashville, Tennessee this summer. Read the full story here.
